Join us for National Poetry Month as we celebrate selected readings from the Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology and original works by undergraduate poets Maizie Montoya, Marina Ramil, Matthew Torres, and Ana Zapata.

Distinguished Professor of English, Denise Duhamel, will lead an engaging discussion on the themes, styles, and historical contexts of these powerful poems. The afternoon will also provide opportunities for networking and connecting with fellow poetry enthusiasts over refreshments. Additionally, you can get creative with our online poetry board, where you can craft and share poems in both Spanish and English in real-time. Please RSVP!

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
