Update  on February 6th, 2023: Due to a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hitting Türkiye on February 5th, we have postponed this webinar. We will update this page once a new date and time has been finalized. We hope you can join us then.

Please join FIU's Center for Women's and Gender Studies for a virtual seminar titled "Mapping Gender Parity in the United States and Türkiye" on Tuesday,  February 7th, from  11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Scholars and political organizers from the United States and Türkiye will discuss women's organizing and activism, democracy, and the political backlash against gender equity. The event is co-sponsored by KA.DER ( a "women's organization that advocates for the equal representation of women and men in all fields") and FIU's Miami-Florida Jean Monnet European Center of Excellence. Please see the flyer for more details.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
