Mathematics and Statistics Colloquium: "Shape, Velocity, and Exact Observability for the Wave Equation" by Dr. Julian Edward

This is a past event.

Tuesday, January 18 at 3:45pm to 4:45pm

DM - Deuxieme Maison, 409A
11200 SW 8th ST 33199, Deuxieme Maison, Miami, Florida 33199

This talk is jointly hosted under the graduate student seminar.

Abstact from Prof. Edward:

It is well known that the standard observability estimate for the wave equation is equivalent to exact controllability. In this talk, we introduce shape and velocity observability as a tool for proving the standard, "exact" observability. As application, we prove exact controllability for the wave equation on a quantum graph with cycle.
