Virtual EventIn this next iteration of Black Lives in a Jewish Context, join Dr. Tudor Parfitt in conversation with Dr. Yonas Mulat for a post-film discussion around Fig Tree.
Set during the Ethiopian civil war, Fig Tree tells the story of a Jewish teenager who hatches a scheme to keep her Christian boyfriend from being drafted, as she and her family prepare to flee the country and go to Israel.

This program is presented in partnership with Hillel at FIU, the Global Jewish Studies Program and Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program at FIU, the Miami Jewish Film Festival, and the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs as part of Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week 2021.
