Join us for an inspiring talk with Dr. Alex Kor, son of Holocaust survivors Michael (Mickey) and Eva Mozes Kor. Dr. Kor will share his parents’ remarkable journey from survival to teaching the world lessons of hope, healing and humanity. Discover how their legacy shaped his life—and why carrying their message forward matters now more than ever.

Guest Speaker

Dr. Alex Kor, originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, is a full-time podiatrist for Hendricks Regional Health in Danville, Indiana, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor for Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. But Alex’s mission and obligation is to tell his parents’ stories. He traveled to Auschwitz more than twenty times since 1985 with his late mother. He is a member of the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center Board of Directors and assisted in establishing an exhibit to honor his mother at the Indiana Historical Society as well as a 53-foot mural of his mother, both in downtown Indianapolis. His new book, co-authored with Graham Honaker, “A Blessing, Not a Burden” which chronicles his parents’ lives as well as how they positively impacted Dr. Kor, will be available for sale at the event.

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
