Guilherme Maricato is a marine biologist and a Ph.D. candidate at the Rio de Janeiro State University, in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. He is spending six months at Florida International University as a short-term scholar, under the advisement of Dr. Clinton N. Jenkins. Maricato has been working on whale and dolphin conservation since 2012, having experience in non-profit organizations, environmental projects, research laboratories, and environmental consulting. He is affiliated with the Marine Ecology and Conservation Laboratory at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the Whales and Dolphins Project of Rio de Janeiro, and the Islands of Rio Project.

Event in Portuguese. Part of LACC's FLAC Lecture Series and LACC's Program of Excellence in Brazilian Studies (PROBRAS).
