As part of our weeklong Juneteenth Celebration, the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is hosting the second annual Nova Star Juneteenth Scholarship Competition Show on June 10, 2023, at the Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC). This inclusive all-genders scholarship show showcases students who exemplify leadership qualities, self-confidence, and a commitment to their FIU community and beyond. The Nova Star Show will award over $7,500 in scholarships to the contestants, including $3,000 to the top winner. Contestants will compete in categories such as FIU spirit, talent, Q & A session, and a short speech on a social justice issue they are passionate about. Join our information sessions to learn more about the eligibility criteria and the competition process.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
