Join us as we welcome Maya King, reporter for the New York Times for the annual New York Times Speaker Series!

Join us in welcoming Maya King, New York Times journalist in a discussion that dives into the coalitions of voters and broader trends that are shaping the 2024 political landscape. We’ll discuss the issues driving the most consequential elections of our lifetime, from the presidential campaign to key down ballot races in the Sun Belt. We’ll also explore how young voters, voters of color, and political organizers are making the difference between winning and losing for the two parties and try to explain why conventional political wisdom isn’t applicable to this election cycle.

The New York Times Speakers Series is an annual event hosted by the Office of Global Learning Initiatives to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to attend a keynote lecture given by a New York Times journalist.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
