Join us for a timely conversation with Ambassador Martin Kimani, who will discuss peace and security on the African continent within the context of contemporary global and regional issues.

 

His Excellency Martin Kimani, PhD, EBS, is Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations with the rank of Ambassador/Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Prior to his appointment, he served as the President’s Special Envoy for Countering Violent Extremism and the Director of Kenya’s National Counter Terrorism Centre. He previously served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme, and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme. Over the past 20 years he has held senior level positions in global currency and bond markets, political risk advisory for underwriters, and peace and security matters in the Horn of Africa and East Africa. Ambassador Kimani is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Gordon Institute of Business at the University of Pretoria and was a distinguished African Fellow at the South African Institute of International Affairs. He holds a PhD in War Studies from King’s College, London.
