The Center for Student Engagement is excited to begin our 2021-2022 Peer Mentor Recruitment process. The Peer Mentor Experience is both a unique honor and an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Peer Mentors are student leaders placed in SLS 1501 courses to aid students in the transition to Florida International University and throughout their first semester of college.

As student leaders in the FIU Community, Peer Mentors…

  • Serve as a role model to first year students and fellow peers.
  • Develop connections and maintain regular contact with students in assigned course.
  • Represent FIU in a positive manner.
  • Are self-motivated with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.

Attend this information session to learn more about the Peer Mentor role and how to apply!

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
