Abstract: The internal hadron structure can be studied in lepton-hadron scattering and in hadron-hadron collisions. The former interaction offers the advantage of a clean, point-like probe. The latter, in particular studied at the LHC, provides a complementary channel and the possibility to reach higher energies compared to the currently existing or near-future planned lepton-hadron facilities, and to thus study the hadron structure down to lower values of x-Bjorken. The information on the hadron structure that exclusive processes provide will be introduced and an overview of measurements of these processes in ultra-peripheral collisions at the LHC will be presented. Where applicable, parallels with measurements in lepton-hadron interactions will be highlighted.
Short Bio: Charlotte Van Hulse is an experimental nuclear and hadron physicist. She obtained her PhD in physics from Ghent University where she was part of the HERMES collaboration experiment located in Hamburg, Germany. Subsequently, she has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Bilbao, a Marie Curie fellowship at the University of Dublin working on the LHCb experiment, a Jefferson Lab Electron-Ion Collider Center fellowship and an appointment at the IJCLab in Orsay, France before she joined the faculty at University of Alcalá last year.
