Designed for library professionals and the broader academic community, this workshop delves into the world of Large Language Models (LLMs), with a spotlight on ChatGPT. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to impact higher education and library practices, we offer a thorough exploration of generative AI tools, emphasizing their role in information literacy. We will introduce a suite of resources tailored to AI's growing presence in libraries and academia while also exploring the ethical, legal, and privacy challenges related to ChatGPT's use.

Our workshop will also focus on "prompt engineering," which is the art and science of crafting prompts that elicit accurate and helpful responses from LLMs. Participants will engage in hands-on sessions to refine their skills in this area. Embark with us on an insightful exploration of ChatGPT's mechanics and AI's transformative influence on contemporary academic and library environments!

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
