The biannual Psychology Undergraduate Student Conference (Psych-Con) will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus GC Ballrooms from 9am to 3pm. The conference will follow with a research forum scheduled from 5pm to 8pm.
The conference is collaborating with FIU Career & Talent Development, Psychology Ambassadors for Student Success, the Council for Student Organizations, College of Arts, Sciences, and Education, and the Department of Psychology to provide students an understanding of what path they can take with their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Psych-Con will expose undergraduate students to:
- Graduate programs in the Psychology field
- Local and national employers seeking to hire Psychology majors
- Networking with representatives from local graduate school programs
- Internship opportunities with community agencies
- Career paths in Psychology
- Resume writing skills
- Headshots for LinkedIn
- Research opportunities
For students seeking extra credit for attending the conference, you must first check with your instructor to see if they are offering extra credit for attending the conference. If this is possible, you must sign in at the registration tables (GC Ballrooms) with your Panther ID and sign out at the ballroom doors. You must attend the conference for at least one hour and sign out after you have attended sessions and/or networked with employers.
Students are highly encouraged to bring their resume in order to network with employers. The conference will host employers who will be recruiting students for internships as well as full-time and part-time positions.
