Join the Society for Women in Marine Science (SWMS), the FIU Institute of Water and Environment (InWE) and the Student Government Association at BBC for a screening of Troubled Waters: A Turtle's Tale and a post-film panel dicussion led by experts in the field.

A new production from WLRN, Troubled Waters: A Turtle's Tale explores the impact of human behavior on our environment-as seen through the lens of one of South Florida's most beloved and fragile underwater creatures-the sea turtle. Featuring acclaimed actor and ocean activist Ted Danson and narrated by Peter Coyote, this one-hour film will take a critical look at the effects of global warming, water pollution and our “throw-away” plastic lifestyle on this keystone species...and inevitably ourselves.

Popcorn and beverages will be provided. This event is free and open to all FIU students.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
