ShellHacks is Florida International University’s upcoming student hackathon, taking place from September 14th to the 16th. For 36-hours, 600 students from all around the nation will come together to learn about the newest technologies, build innovative projects, and share them with the community. The theme of the hackathon is diversity, bringing students of all academic and cultural backgrounds together to celebrate technology and form solutions to the challenges in our world today.

ShellHacks is organized by Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the largest student organization for technology at FIU. The hackathon is affiliated with Major League Hacking (MLH), the official student hackathon league in the United States, and is supported locally by Florida International University’s College of Engineering & Computing. ShellHacks is sponsored by top companies including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Intel, and more.

Hacker registration is open to all current college, university, and coding school students, as well as recent graduates. You can register at http://shellhacks.net.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
