We tend to remember the Revolution as a struggle between American patriots and the British crown, with France lending a hand. But the full picture is richer—and one of its most decisive players has been overlooked for centuries: Spain, and especially its prized Caribbean colony, Cuba.

This book is an easy-to-read historical account of Spain and Cuba’s contribution to the independence of the United States of America that changed the course of History. The book received the prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Award from the España Chapter in 2023.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
