Dr. Chafouleas is a Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She also serves as the founder and Co-Director of the UConn Collaboratory on School and Child Health (CSCH: csch.uconn.edu). Her work focuses on supporting school system implementation of evidence-informed practices, with expertise in areas of integrated health and learning (whole child), school mental health, and social-emotional-behavior assessment. Prior to becoming a university trainer, she worked as a school psychologist and school administrator in a variety of settings supporting the needs of children with behavior disorders.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe core features of defensible and usable social-emotional-behavioral assessments for informing intervention decisions
- Demonstrate potential uses for Direct Behavior Rating (DBR), particularly in formative decisions about tiered intervention supports
- Discuss challenges and opportunities in social-emotional-behavioral assessment research given extension of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to integrated work (i.e. across domains and settings)
About the Speaker Series:
The Speaker Series presentations are designed to provide health and mental health professionals, educators, and students with current strategies for understanding, identifying, and treating children and adolescents with mental health problems.
All sessions are free and provide continuing education credits for mental health professionals.
