The Talent Lab at FIU in Washington, D.C. collaborates with the student-led organization, Panther Dialectic for a roundtable discussion.

On October 14th (5:00-7:30 pm), Panther Dialectic is hosting a roundtable dialogue followed by a social mixer with food and music. As a Talent Lab experience, FIU students will have the opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversations with other interns in D.C. who will share their experience working at the Hill, White House, and Federal Agencies.

The Roundtable's Topics:

  • How does competition between universities for government appropriation/grants affect research initiatives?
  • Civil Rights: Academic Freedom, Free Speech, and Health Care.
  • Open Discussion

Panther Dialectic is a new opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to get involved in our University's community by developing professional and personal skills through debate, dialogue, and mediation through the Socratic Method.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
