Join the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs and Florida Grand Opera for a powerful and moving program inspired by Silent Night, the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera by Kevin Puts. This unique event blends spoken word and music to commemorate the extraordinary Christmas Truce of 1914, a rare, spontaneous moment during World War I when enemy soldiers laid down their arms to share in the spirit of the holiday. Set to selections from the opera’s hauntingly beautiful score, the program features the remarkable voices of Florida Grand Opera Studio Artists and thought-provoking commentary from historians Dr. Gwyn Davies and Dr. Rebecca Friedman. Together, they reflect on enduring themes of humanity, reconciliation and hope amid the devastation of war.

This free event offers an early glimpse of Silent Night, which will run from November 15 to December 6 as part of Florida Grand Opera’s season.
