Join us for a talk on "The Hunt for Next-Gen TB Drugs Goes Back to Nature" with Dr. Kyle Rohde, Associate Professor, Division of Immunity and Pathogenesis, Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Central Florida. The seminar will take place on Friday, March 26th, 11:00AM via Zoom.

Finding novel therapeutics effective against drug-resistant and dormant M. tuberculosis requires exploring novel chemical space under conditions that more faithfully mimic the in vivo environment.  This talk will highlight our collaborative efforts to screen marine and fungal natural products sourced from exotic locations for anti-mycobacterial activity.  Our results illustrate the potential of epigenetic modulation of natural product metabolites and a multi-stress dormancy model for the discovery of novel lead compounds targeting M. tuberculosis and other pathogenic mycobacteria.

Please email bsi@fiu.edu for Zoom link.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
