Traces: The Art of the Line | July 10–30, 2025

Curated by Carola Bravo, PhD

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 10  6–9 PM

MIFA Gallery

Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA) proudly presents Traces: The Art of the Line, an exhibition that redefines the role of the line as a conceptual and expressive force. Curated by artist and scholar Carola Bravo, PhD, this group exhibition features works by eleven artists—graduates and current students from Florida International University’s Master of Fine Arts program—on view from July 10 to 30, 2025.

Far beyond a formal element, the line in this exhibition becomes a gesture, a movement, a memory. Through drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and printmaking, Traces reveals the power of the line to embody presence, translate thought, and map emotional and spatial experience.

Participating artists: Pedro Sena, Diego Alejandro Waisman, Amanda Iannone, Stephany Silver, Jacob Edward Stiltner, Nina Ellery Oliveira, Melina Tsalikis, Lucia Morales, Vero Murphy, Ana Vergara, and Jessenya Rodriguez.

From graphite figures that contain landscapes to soil maps tracing identity, each artist approaches the line as a tool of inquiry and revelation. Whether delicate or bold, fractured or fluid, these lines speak of memory, motion, structure, and the body.  “This exhibition reminds us that the line is never just a mark,” says curator Carola Bravo. “It is a language, a presence, a trace of something deeper.”
