Tuesday Times Roundtable
TTR is FIU’s weekly series of moderated conversations around current global issues and trends. Conversations bring into play the multiple viewpoints of students, faculty, staff, and community members.  All sessions are absolutely FREE and lunch is on us!

TTR: GlobalHER: A Dialogue on Transnational Feminism & International Women's Day

  • Moderator: Tiffany Peacock, Program Coordinator at The Women’s Center,

  • Centers for Student Engagement, FIU

  • Description: This session will offer a reflection on International Women’s Day, its significance, and its impact for women globally, while opening a discussion for addressing the ways that women’s rights struggles continue to take shape across borders, national contexts, cultures, and communities. Although struggles for women’s rights are improving within some nations, many women across others continue to struggle for the same recognition, gender equalities, and access to economic and political power as their male counterparts. Additionally, this discussion will address the role of patriarchy and increasing conservativism in pushing the needle back for women’s rights globally.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
