Images and color can make your content more visually appealing and
engaging. However, not everyone can gain information from images
and color, and sometimes images may be turned off to save
bandwidth. You’ll learn how to provide alternative text to ensure the
content of images is available to all learners, including best practices
for determining the most appropriate alternative text based on the
type of image and the context for its use. You’ll also learn about the
importance of not relying on color alone to convey meaning, how to
check for color contrast and best practices for ensuring your text is
both legible and readable to as many learners as possible.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
