On January 3, the Trump administration launched Operation Absolute Resolve, a military incursion intended to apprehend Nicolás Maduro to face narcoterrorism charges in the United States. In the aftermath of the strike, Delcy Rodríguez assumed the role of acting president, as the U.S. moved to assert greater influence over Venezuela’s oil sector. The incursion has not only ushered in a new phase of Venezuela’s political dynamics but also signals a broader shift in relations between the United States and the Western Hemisphere. This Teach-In brings together leading analysts and prominent FIU scholars to examine the far-reaching domestic and international consequences of these developments.
