LACC will launch the 2023 cycle of the Interdisciplinary Faculty Colloquium (IFC) series with a featured presentation “Violence, Public Security, and Challenges of the Third Lula Administration in Brazil” by LACC Director Dr. Anthony Pereira. Dr. Jose Miguel Cruz, LACC Director of Research, will join us as a discussant for the event.

The Interdisciplinary Faculty Colloquium series aims to provide a space where FIU faculty and advanced graduate students have the opportunity to present their research, exchange ideas with researchers in different disciplines, and nurture new projects. It is, primarily, a resource to promote FIU’s academic dialogue and research on Latin America and the Caribbean.

To RSVP, email ldudley@fiu.edu. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
