Join us for a special presentation by Cameron Garcia, candidate for the Haitian Studies Certificate, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:30 AM in SIPA II, Room 258.

Presented in Haitian Creole, this engaging lecture explores how Haitian creators are using Artificial Intelligence to transform digital storytelling and entertainment on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. Cameron Garcia will examine the growing role of AI-generated images and videos in Haitian creative production, highlighting how traditional Haitian storytelling, humor, and social commentary continue to shape contemporary AI-powered soap operas, web series, and digital content.

The presentation will also explore the opportunities and challenges that AI presents for Haiti's creative industries, including its potential impact on education, civic engagement, and the preservation and promotion of Haitian culture.

Join us in celebrating Cameron's achievement and discover how technology is reshaping the future of Haitian cultural expression.

In collaboration with the Department of Modern Languages. Part of LACC's Foreign Languages Across the Curriculum (FLAC) Lecture Series and the Haitian Studies Program of Excellence.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
