“When Dust Outshines the Stars”

December 25, 2025 – March 22, 2026

MUSEUM GAZHANE

Museum Gazhane hosts the group exhibition titled “When Dust Outshines the Stars,” curated by Uras Kızıl.

When Dust Outshines the Stars offers an indirect reflection on the historical memory of a site that met Istanbul’s lighting needs in the late 19th century. Approaching illumination as a metaphor, the exhibition brings together contemporary art practices shaped around the themes of light and darkness.

The exhibition features works by Gizem Akkoyunlu, Ozan Atalan, Alpin Arda Bağcık, Kıymet Daştan, Benal Dikmen, Sinem Dişli, Başak Kaptan, Kaan Kemal Öner, Ali Miharbi, Ekin Saçlıoğlu, and Damla Sarı.

The group exhibition titled “When Dust Overshadows the Stars,” drawing inspiration from the historical memory of the Museum Gasworks, which was used to meet Istanbul's lighting needs in the late 19th century , opened to art lovers in the L building of the Museum Gasworks! Organized by IMM Culture and IMM Heritage, the exhibition brings together 11 artists who place light, darkness, and the themes surrounding these concepts at the center of their art practice today.
