In this lecture, USAF Lt. Col. (Ret.) Duilia Turner draws on her 25 years of military experience to discuss the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) framework and its global impact. She will examine the evolution of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the expanding roles of women in defense, military operations, and leadership. Through real-world examples and firsthand experiences, she will highlight how these principles shape security policies and contribute to stability worldwide. Designed for the accelerated Portuguese class, students of all levels are welcome to participate in the discussion.

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses.
