DESCRIPTION:The 1947 Partition of British India triggered one of the larges
t forced migrations in modern history\, uprooting millions and transformin
g communities across the subcontinent. Women experienced this upheaval in
profoundly gendered ways\, facing abduction\, sexual violence\, displaceme
nt and the loss of family and home. This conversation explores women’s e
xperiences of Partition and the memories carried across generations\, exam
ining how recovering often-silenced histories can deepen our understanding
of violence\, survival\, displacement and the enduring human consequences
of Partition.\n\n \n\nThis event is presented as part of the programming
for the exhibition Project Dastaan\, currently on view in the Green School
  Gallery (SIPA I\, Room 110).
