Virtual Event

As part of International Dark Sky Week 2021, join Dr. James Webb, director of the Stocker AstroScience Center, as he shares the story of how the observatory with South Florida's only research grade telescope came to be, and discusses the issue of light pollution. Explore the cosmos and find the answer to the question: "Why would an astronomer build an astronomical observatory in a light-polluted urban area like Miami?". Then ride along remotely as Dr. Webb uses the telescope for a live viewing of the night sky (weather permitting).
