A conversation with travel influencers Barry Hoi and Teraj Allen, hosted by George Neary.

This event features Barry Hoy and Teraj Allen and is hosted by George Neary. Join Teraj and Barry to hear about their experience traveling as a gay interracial couple with reflections on challenges faced by the community and recommendations on what the tourism industry can do to be more welcoming. Their goal is to push for progress in places without LGBTQ+ rights as well as protective legislation in places where discrimination is not overt yet deeply experienced. (About the Host – George Neary is founder of Tours “r” Us specializing in curated tours that concentrate on the historic communities of Miami including the historic Art Deco District on Miami Beach. Recently retired from the world stage as a ‘paid’ LGBT world ambassador for the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, George is also a strong supporter of arts and culture, and as such, advocates for the power of creative pursuits to positively impact quality of life, and social justice.)

Statement of Free Expression

FIU endorses the Florida Board of Governors' Statement of Free Expression to support and encourage full and open discourse and the robust exchange of ideas and perspectives on our campuses. In addition to supporting this legal right, we view this as an integral part of our ability to deliver a high-quality academic experience for our students, engage in meaningful and productive research, and provide valuable public service. This includes fostering civil and open dialogue in support of critical thinking in and out of the classroom, including events hosted by the university.
