Title V Opening the Gateway Conference

The Title V Conference will highlight new programs at FIU designed to maximize Hispanic student achievement in the core subjects of reading, mathematics and writing. The workshops presented will review specific strategies created - including teaching techniques, faculty development and academic support - to enhance student skill sets. The presentations will focus on how these strategies can be applied in the classroom.
The Title V Conference will feature the following topics:
-Opening the Gateway Overview & Achievements
-General Workshop: Stereotype Threat 101
-Concurrent Workshops: Increasing Student Success Using the Mastery Math Model; Responding to Multicultural and Multilingual Student Writing; and Improving Student Reading Skills for College Material
-Exhibit Hall & Software Demonstration
