Co-Sponsored by the Florida International University College of Law, the 2nd Winter Roundtable will take place on Thursday afternoon, January 24, 2013, in Miami at the Biltmore Hotel.

The Winter Roundtable is presented annually by the young arbitrator organizations of the ITA, CPR, ICC, ICDR and LCIA in the opening session of the ITA Winter Forum. Interested students and young lawyers may register for the Roundtable only or for the entire Winter Forum.

The Roundtable this year consists of three debates on hot issues among rising stars under 40 in international arbitration practice:

Do Moral Damages Have a Place in Investment Arbitration?
May Preconditions to Arbitration Be Disregarded?
Is There a Role For Summary Adjudication in International Arbitration?

The Roundtable will conclude with a Welcome Reception at the Biltmore.

The ITA Winter Forum (January 24-25) will resume the next morning. Highlights include:

2012 Year in Review: The Top International Arbitration Developments of 2012
Two Works-in-Progress Previews, selected from over 50 submissions:
“Towards a New Age of Soft Law in International Investment Law?”, presented by Stephan Schill (Senior Research Fellow, Max Planck Institute, Heidelberg) with commentary by Jeremy Sharpe (Chief of Investment Arbitration, U.S. Department of State, Washington D.C.)
“Glocalization of Arbitration: Globalization of Law and Divergence of Local Culture”, presented by FAN Kun (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Chinese University of Hong Kong) with commentary by Dean Philip McConnaughay (Penn State Law School)
A luncheon Interview with Gary Born (Chair, International Arbitration Practice Group, WilmerHale, London)
An open ITA Forum for candid dialogue among colleagues, moderated by Elisabeth Eljuri, Martin Hunter, Jan Paulsson and Catherine Rogers
The Winter Forum Reception and Dinner at The Rusty Pelican.
