Dogen Zenji was one of the greatest figures in the history of Zen Buddhism, and FIU's Steven Heine is one of the world's leading authorities on his life and works. The conference is organized by our Asian Studies Program.

Speakers: Prof. William Bodiford, UCLA, author of Sōtō Zen in Medieval Japan; Prof. Griffith Foulk, Sarah Lawrence, co-editor-in-chief of the Sōtō Zen translation project; Prof. Steven Heine, Florida International University, author of Did Dōgen go to China?;
Rev. Taigen Dan Leighton, Zen teacher and co-translator of Dōgen’s Extensive Record; Rev. Shohaku Okumura, Zen teacher and author of Realizing Genjōkōan.
