Free Training: NOAA Coastal Inundation Mapping

Join us in December for a free course led by NOAA on mapping flooding scenarios using GIS.
 
Co-hosted by Miami-Dade County and Florida International University.
 
 
Hands-on exercises will help participants learn how to:
  • Identify the different types of coastal inundation
  • Better interpret mapping products and terminology
  • Access topographic and bathymetric data
  • Perform datum conversions
  • Use interpolation methods to create digital elevation models
  • Explore water level data
  • Map coastal inundation (including sea level rise) using GIS
 
 
Location: FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus GIS Lab, 3000 Northeast 151st Street, Miami, FL 33181
 
Participant Requirements: Intermediate GIS skills (minimum 6 mos. – 1 yr). Registration preference will be given to those working for the public sector, non-profits, or students.
 
Certification: 16 hrs of continuing education credits for the GIS Professional (GISP), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) professional certifications.
