Invitation-Only Fifth Annual Professionalism & Civility Action Summit
September 15 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Professionalism Committee will hold its Fifth Annual Professionalism and Civility Action Summit on Friday, September 15, 2017 (1 – 5pm), at the Florida International University College of Law. More than a group discussion or seminar, this will be a working summit of Eleventh Circuit judges and representatives from justice partner agencies, local voluntary bar associations and government legal departments collaborating to create solutions to issues of incivility and unprofessionalism in the legal profession.
In 1998, the Florida Supreme Court requested that the Chief Judge of every judicial circuit appoint a Circuit Committee on Professionalism that would be charged with the overall responsibility of initiating and coordinating activities aimed at improving professionalism within the practice of law in each circuit.
This year’s moderator(s)-led discussion focuses on the law schools. We will have representatives from each of the local law schools present to discuss new and innovative ways to educate our future lawyers regarding professionalism and civility. Your only responsibility as a student leader is to demonstrate a willingness to participate and offer a candid prospective on issues of professionalism, civility and ethics.
