Federal Government Statewide Conference

Federal Conference 2017

Each year FIU Career and Talent Development hosts the Federal Government Statewide Conference. The Conference is designed to bring representatives from various government entities together to discuss aspects of government employment.

We regularly have reps from the military, FBI, CIA, State Department, and many other branches of the federal government, present and eager to discuss what kind of jobs they offer, and how best to apply for them.

After the panel discussions on government employment, we hold a resource fair – a kind of Career Fair strictly for government employment. Other features of the Federal Government Statewide Conference include breakout sessions on varying topics led by distinguished speakers.

The event is free to FIU students and government agencies, $10 for non-FIU students, and $25 for career professionals.

Searching for an internship or a job is a job in itself. Attend this workshop to learn about tools and strategies to assist with your search. We will review resources for finding jobs (e.g. Panther JOBLink, LinkedIn, The Muse) and networking (e.g. student organizations, classmates, professional associations, LinkedIn company pages, on campus events), and will encourage you to create an action plan for your search.

Meet & Greet: Fiat Chrysler

FCA Meet and Greet

Spend your morning with Fiat Chrysler for Breakfast, Networking, and information on the Supply Chain. This Meet and Greet opportunity will be split up into a half hour breakfast with recruiters from FCA, followed by an hour information session of “Why Supply Chain”, and will end with a networking session.

This event will be hosted by FIU’s Logistics & Supply Chain Management Association.

Understand the goals and importance of an interview. Learn effective tools in preparation for the interview process, the appropriate communication skills, behavior, and dress code for an interview, as well as what to do after an interview.

If you’re looking for a job, internship, or attending a networking event, one of the first tasks on your to-do list should be crafting an ideal elevator pitch. This 30-60 second speech about yourself and your goals will be one of the first impressions that an employer will have of you.
