HACU’s 23rd Annual National Capitol Forum on Higher Education

Each spring, advocates for the higher education success of the nation’s youngest and largest ethnic population group gather in Washington, D.C., to shape and promote an agenda for Congress and the country at the annual HACU Capitol Forum.

Leaders of HACU member and partner colleges and universities join public policymakers, key federal agency leaders, allied organizations, corporate, community and philanthropic representatives at what has become a powerful national platform for winning public- and private-sector support for Hispanic higher education. Key to these strategic forums are annual Visits to Capitol Hill, which allow leaders in the Hispanic higher education community to interact directly with key members of the House and Senate.

Excelencia in Education Awards + ALASS Institute

On October 5th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Plan to attend the national announcement of the 2017 Examples of Excelencia. Selected programs in colleges, universities and community-based organizations across the country will be recognized for their positive impact on Latino student success at the associate, baccalaureate and graduate levels.

On October 6th, from 7:30am to 5:00pm, The ALASS Institute is the meeting place for professionals who are setting the national agenda for Latino student success in higher education. ALASS is a fast paced Institute providing rich networking opportunities, tactical information about evidence-based practices, strategies and resources to advance Latino student achievement in higher education.

The Duo Con-Trastes is comprised of guitarists Zuleida Suárez and Susana Frade, both graduates of Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba. Founded in 2002, the duo has a significant track record of concerts and performances in various festivals and prestigious concert halls, including Festival de Müsica Contemporánea de La Habana, Festival Identidades, Festival de la Joven Guitarra en la ciudad de Camagüey, los Ciclos de Conciertos de Müsica Contemporánea, La casa de las Américas, La casa del Alba Cultural, el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, el Teatro Auditórium Amadeo Roldán, and el Centro Hispanoamericano de la Cultura, among others.
