Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access Subcommittee – Small Business Labor Market

Chairman Dave Brat has scheduled a hearing of the Committee on Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access titled, “Examining the Small Business Labor Market.” The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building. 

The hearing will provide the Committee with an opportunity to understand recent trends in the labor market and how they affect small businesses. This hearing will also examine how current challenges locating and retaining employees with the proper skills affect the ability of small businesses to operate and expand in order to grow the American economy.

Operation Opportunity: Veterans Entrepreneurship Workshop

Operation Opportunity is an initiative of 38HOT: Helping Others Together, Team 4 of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami Class of 2016-2017.  This program is focused on creating entrepreneurial and professional opportunities for Miami-Dade County veterans.

As part of Operation Opportunity, 38HOT is hosting an entrepreneurship workshop to provide training and resources for veterans looking to start up a new business or grow an existing business.  Attendees will hear from experts in the following areas: 

  • Starting a Business
  • Accessing Capital
  • Resources to Support Veteran Entrepreneurs 

Speakers include: 

  • United Way Mission United
  • The U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Beacon Council
  • Florida SBDC at Florida International University

This workshop will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 6pm – 8pm at the United Way of Miami-Dade’s Ansin Building, located at 3250 Southwest 3rd Avenue, Miami, FL 33129-2712.
