FIU alumnus, Michael Hernandez ’04, serves as Director of Communications for Miami Dade County Mayor, Carlos A. Gimenez. Michael who proudly serves on the FIU Alumni Association Board of Directors has more than 10 years of experience in communications and in the political world. Michael is excited to host this opportunity to help students connect and share his FIU story with you, our FIU students!

Students attending this special event will get to network with fellow panthers while enjoying a breakfast at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. FIU alumnus, Daniel Farmer ’74, who currently works as a Tax Problem Specialist for The Accounting and Tax Company, will host a light breakfast for FIU students at the FIU @ I-75 campus.  Students are welcome to attend and learn about the challenges that one can face when opening their own small business.

Job Search Strategies for International Students

This workshop showcases informative sessions with an attorney provided by the ISSS Office specializing on Visa and employment requirements.

In addition, a co-presentation with the ISSS Office informing students of the hiring process and requirements for international students in the US. Students learn about ways to navigate the job/internship search process and maximize on their experience for future opportunities.

The Career Services’ Executive Protégé Initiative (EPI) is a semester-long program designed for students and alumni to produce career-savvy individuals. This program will help to develop the skills necessary for resume writing, professional correspondence, networking, job searching, basic and advanced interviewing, and professional development activities.

EPI also hosts a variety of professional development opportunities throughout the year, for example Dress for Success, book reviews, coaching opportunities, negotiations, networking events, and other special events.
